Text Box: Text Box: Psychodynamic Diagnostic Manual (PDM)
A complement to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental  Disorders, the PDM is a source of valuable knowledge on case formulation and treatment planning for psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, counselors, and other mental health professionals. It is a diagnostic framework that describes the whole person—both the deeper and surface levels of an individual’s personality as well as his/her emotional and social functioning. For more information, click on the Manual.

The Southwest Psychoanalytic Society is a non-profit educational and community service organization, founded in 1997, and is an affiliate of the American Psychoanalytic Association.  Its mission is to enhance the psychological growth and emotional well-being of Arizonans, in an enduring way.

SPS organizes two yearly conferences, one in Tucson, and one in Phoenix, open to anyone interested in the topics presented. Additionally, we offer seminars, salons, journal clubs, and outreach programs aimed at educating our communities on psychoanalytic matters. You will find links to organizations that share our philosophical and clinical views, and links to other resources.

We also post our newsletter (published 2 times per year) which contains reports from the SPS Committees as well as our educational and social activities, services provided, reports from national meetings, information about the Institute, and other news of interest.

The purposes of this website are to disseminate information about psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy to anyone interested, to inform people about our news and events calendar, and to facilitate referrals for services.
